Included a pouch with 90gp.
Cesar,
It’s unexpected to hear you’re alive, I thought you and the others may have been killed after you chased the mercenary who escaped.
There have been no further attacks since the three of you left. I thank you on behalf of the town for playing some role in stopping the violence. Even so, I would have expected contact from you all sooner.
After you all but abandoned the town, the people grew restless, especially because I was unable to properly update them on your progress and the hunt for our attackers. It didn’t take long for word of Hans’s imprisonment to let slip, and the people started to demand justice. Lucas is a weak man, and he bent to their will.
Hans was executed two days after you left Tarrin Falls. The first public execution in the history of Tarrin Falls. It also didn’t take long for the townsfolk to discover that Ellis – the one you unceremoniously dumped at the town gates without explanation – was posted to the South Gate with Hans on the night of the attack.
A day after Hans was executed, Ellis was released from the infirmary. But only a few hours later, several angry townsfolk cornered Ellis and beat him within an inch of his life. He still hasn’t woken up.
I can only imagine how things may have gone differently if the three of you were around to help keep the peace, to vouch for Ellis’s innocence, and to stand in support of mercy for Hans.
Your resignation is unnecessary; I released you, Brutus, and Cralt from active service three days ago – that’s two weeks since we last heard from you. I’m unsure if you’re still with the other two, so I’ve only included your share of the last two weeks of pay.
Boris.
