An ancient book, containing details of the Lesser Pantheon, and a legendary series of battles which occurred on Sacred Haven.
The book was first discovered on Sacred Haven by Alaxar, who kept its discovery secret. The book was then taken by Randall and Ben, who passed it on to a religious scholar named Matthew. Randall and Ben have been credited with the discovery of both The God Wars and the Lesser Pantheon.
Part 1: the gods
The book begins with a description of each member of the Lesser Pantheon, and tells of how they populated the world with various living beings, thousands of years ago.
After the world was populated, internal conflicts arose within the Lesser Pantheon. Each of the gods wanted more influence on the world, and greater freedom to continue populating it. Unable to agree on how to divide the material world amongst them, the Lesser Pantheon decided that only the strongest of them should have control.
Part 2: the war
To determine which of the Lesser Pantheon was strongest, a series of battles called the God Wars were held on Sacred Haven.
Only two of the Lesser Pantheon would fight at a time, with each sending forth one of its subjects (i.e. a being it had created). The battles proceeded like a tournament, and a member of the Lesser Pantheon would be eliminated after suffering too many losses.
The Swarm was eliminated first, followed by the Wild, and then the Dragon. The Servant was then eliminated, and finally the Laran, leaving the Archfey victorious.
The book provides few details on what happened after the Archfey’s victory. It’s implied that the rest of the Lesser Pantheon accepted the victory, and allowed the Archfey greater power. Although there is no explanation as to why every member other than the Archfey faded into obscurity.
