Prologue: The Border Mountains
A baldir spies on a group of people, 200 or more strong, travelling through the Border Mountains towards Iparra. He sees these people traverse the mountainous region with inhuman agility.
The Troublemaker (present)
The PCsRandall & Ben sail towards Soleme, after completing their expedition to the Isle of Tarr. Captain Shepard invites them to celebratory drinks at the Merryweather once they arrive.
Giant Squid
On their way to the Isle of Tarr, Nathan Goldman tells the PCs to help unload the ship once they arrive. But the PCs assure Captain Shepard they’ll focus on guarding the crew.
The Troublemaker is then attacked by a Giant Squid. The PCs help the crew fend it off, saving the ship from major damage.
During the fight, Ben is harmed by the Squid, and he experiences an all-consuming desire to destroy it with the rapier he took from Alaxar.
First dig site
The PCs arrive at the Isle of Tarr. After the ship is unloaded, they join Nathan Goldman, Leta the assistant, Lavias the bard, A.B.S. Kenley, and Watkins the immortal, and together they search for the first dig site.
Nathan leads the group through the island’s jungle to an ancient ruin, which he thinks is thousands of years old.
While exploring the ruin, Randall asks Ben about the fight against the Squid. They examine Ben’s rapier, and Hal says that he senses an angry spirit in the blade.
The PCs notice that some of the structures in the ruin look like they were destroyed by fire. They also find an altar, with an unfamiliar religious symbol imprinted onto the ground before it.
Flame Guardians
While Nathan inspects the alter, two columns of flame appear on either side. Each takes the form of an elemental guardian, and roars something in an ancient tongue: “LO TU SO RA”. Hal says he doesn’t understand, but he confidently identifies the guardians as “subjects of the Dragon.”
