Phantoms
Chapter 5

  • Dandy & Jason (D&J) fascinate the treasure door, and are rewarded with healing.
  • D&J enter the final chamber and are slain by phantoms.
  • Vendrick & Haley (V&H) enter the Chambers of Ashar.

Treasure door

D&J find a talking treasure door. They successfully hold its interest with stories about themselves, and are rewarded with healing.

Darkness

D&J enter the pitch black final chamber. They follow a wall but end up back at the entrance.

They venture into the chamber’s middle, and the entrance disappears. They’re then assaulted by phantoms.

D&J experience several visions from the perspective of the enemies they’ve slain. They see and feel the pain they themselves inflicted.

Defeat

As D&J march into the darkness, they hear an increasingly distressed Dranik calling for their defeat. His voice shifts between male and female tones.

D&J almost reach the end of the darkness, but with little to keep their minds rooted to reality, they eventually succumb to the phantoms.

Round three

Vendrick & Haley (V&H) step forward next. They see Dranik’s distress over D&J’s almost victory. They also see the statue’s crystal fill up to half with red liquid.

Vendrick requests a light crossbow, bolts, and a tinderbox. Haley asks for a lantern, but this causes Dranik to snap: he throws Vendrick’s items into the dungeon and orders V&H to enter immediately, without even a key for their shackles.

V&H enter and manage to open their chains using one of the previously thrown keys.
