- Zane asks the PCsRandall & Ben to help renegotiate payment with Gregan.
- PCs and Gregan’s crew fend off 7 goblins mounted on dire wolves.
Zane
Zane approaches the PCsRandall & Ben with some complaints about Gregan, and suggests they “negotiate” with the merchant for better pay. The PCs broadly agree, but Ben refuses to engage in outright theft. After Zane walks off, Randall impresses Ben with his Floating Disc.
Ben questions Gregan after they stop for a break. The merchant says he grew up in Caister and trained in Vumira. He also says he’s transporting common goods, like foodstuffs and clothes.
Goblins
The PCs then notice enemies watching them through the trees: 7 goblins, each mounted on a dire wolf. Eed gets Gregan on the wagon again, and Zane and Baro hitch a ride as the horses are whipped into gear.
Ben provokes the goblins into charging by firing an arrow at them, then jumps onto the wagon as well. Randall floats alongside on his disc, and tells Hal to spook the incoming goblins. Hal rushes them with his demonic physical form, and roars, “Begone!” causing two of the goblins to tumble off their mounts as they flinch away in terror.
Battle
Start of session 2 Hal slows several goblins with a blast of dirt. Ben attacks with his bow, but some goblins still reach Baro. Randall lands on a dire wolf’s head, sending the mounted goblin sprawled onto his disc. Baro then splits the sprawled goblin in two.
Eed hides at the front of the wagon after being hit by a javelin. Ben dives onto a goblinless dire wolf and refuses to be thrown off. Zane steals one of Eed’s knives, and tries and fails to throw it at a goblin.
A dire wolf leaps towards one of the draft horses, but badly misses and ends up being crushed by the wagon. After the wagon passes over a bridge, a second wolf successfully leaps onto one of the horses. Gregan shoots at it with a cannon-sized crossbow, but misses. Zane then jumps onto one of the horses and attacks the wolf.
Randall lands his disc on the head of Ben’s dire wolf, sending Ben gracefully onto the platform. They then engage the last two goblins. Ben drops the first into the dust, and the second flees with most of the dire wolves. Zane then kills the last dire wolf, and its body passes under the wagon without causing any damage.
Gregan calls for a break and congratulates his crew. He suggests they rest at a shelter he knows of nearby.
